Power Yoga is a series of postures designed to increase a students flexibility, balance, strength & concentration. As well as stress reduction. An offshoot of Ashtanga Yoga, power yoga uses many of the same qualities and beliefs of Ashtanga Yoga including internal heat. Power Yoga is for everyone, no matter how old or inexperienced. Or how flexible you are. It’s about learning to look after your body & mind, not just about posing like a tree!
You will challenge your limits both mentally & physically, breathing in unison with your poses.
Power Yoga teachers design their own sequences with students synchronising their breaths to their movements.
The original Power Yoga was developed in the 1990’s by Beryl Bender Birch, but is now a term used to describe many vigorous Vinyasa styles.
Some of the poses used within this style of Yoga are-
